A Worn Path

First of all, I really enjoy the authors intricate use of language and details when describing just about everything. From a reading perspective, I enjoy using my own imagination to try and recreate the scene in my head as best as I could. But I also find it extremely nice when the author creates the scene for you by describing so many details throughout the entire piece.

The middle of the piece felt like a thriller movie. I was on the "edge of my seat" the entire time wanting to read faster and faster to try and find out what happens next. You could really feel the suspense and tension building in the air between Aunt Phoenix, and the two men with the dogs. I think the fact that the men that the crew came across had dogs with them was an interesting detail to add which really helped build suspense and engage the reader with the confrontation scene. Who knows what those hunters have trained those dogs to do, they could move that scene into any direction, leaving the reader guessing what is going to happen.

Toward the end when I found out why she took such a long trip was heartwarming. Her traveling for her grandsons medicine is very nice. And I really was happy when the random woman helped tie grannies shoe because she was unable. And when the attentandent gave her the nickel, it was a very sweet gesture and you could sense that the people that worked there respected Phoenix.

I didn't read this story but your analysis makes it seem very interesting. Any story about old people and dogs is something I'm about. I also like suspenseful stories so maybe I will read this one as well.
