Worn Path

I chose to read “A Worn Path”. When I first started reading it I was picturing more of a little red riding hood vibe because of the way the old negro woman was described in the beginning of the story. Also, when describing the woods and the pathway, I immediately thought of little red riding hood. When first looking at this short story in my point of view, I was a little off about the negro lady because she was in the woods by herself. But, it did confuse me because she is talking to other people throughout the woods, like the little boy handing her a plate. But, throughout the story, she is walking through the woods to get to the town where everyone else was. When I got to the end of the short story, I realized that she was going into a doctor’s office to help her grandson. The old lady was just sick with a failing memory that had never been educated, as she says. When looking at this short story after reading it, I am still confused on what it’s really about. But, late came to the conclusion that it could maybe be called a worn path because she doesn’t really have good memory and that path could be very long for her. I chose to read this article because of the first few words that caught my attention. The attention was towards the old lady because she was the main character going through this memory loss taking the worn path.
